During 66 & 67 we flew these missions with 2 Slicks and 2 Guns. The second Slick was just in case the first ship did not make it or if it was a rope extraction a Slick could only take Three on the lines.

I remember the day the Crocks broke off somewhere between Long and Short final to a verry hot LZ. I thought we bought the farm. Should have known the Crocks would not leave us high and dry. The next thing I knew the Air Force was wasting the tree line with 20mm and heavy bombs. I don't think I took a "Crap" for a week after that. Mission was successful and only a few holes to patch that night (all had exit wounds)complete pass throughs no dammage.
