I gave my daughter a 9mm, took her to the range and taught her how to shoot. Then I told her that if anyone is in her house or is attempting to break in, point the gun in the direction of the intruder and shoot the floor without giving any warning. The normal intruder will not remain in the house. If the intruder does not move fast enough, level the weapon and empty the gun, that should leave him on the floor, if nothing else, she has two extra magazines of ammunition available to finish the job. The law will protect the home owner in their home, at least they will here in Texas.

This way the intruder decides whether he/she wishes to survive. Move it or lose it.
