Re: Hurricane Central Report

Just got power back in the last hour. My generator ran like a top and kept the frig cold the TV on and a few lights, I could have run more things but chose to run just what was necessary. The next step is to hard wire the generator in to the main service panel then I can use the house service panel breakers as I needed.

The hurricane has passed and we are OK with no damage. I spent yesterday doing some minor prep work on the house followed by a pre flight inspection. Everything passed with flying colors.

Wind here topped out at about 80mph, sustained was between 60 and 75mph. It has been quite a day. My neighbor next door lost shingles on his roof and had a lot of water in the kitchen which came from the driving wind the house across the street lost some roof shingles and had water coming in through the celing in the garage. Lorraine and I are very luckey. When we bought this house I looked it over very carefully, it's only two years old but is built well. I remember the story about the three little pigs and believe me block construction is the way to go here. We have a Lake right out back but it would have to rise 20 feet before we would get wet.
