I was just sitting here thinking (yes thinking) about the not so good times in Nam. Near the top of my list is the long hours spent in the Hell Hole cleaning before taking the bird up to Bob Taylor's turf for scheduled maintenance. For some reason,unknown to us CEs, maintenance officers were real pickey about the most difficult area on the Huey to keep clean. I used to make it my mission to get it spotless but the people in the hanger always found something that I missed.

The top spot is bringing in KIAs. Can't remember a body bag that did not leak. Come to think of it I can't remember very many body bags. Bringing in WIAs was another story. You always felt good about getting them back alive but I still wondered if they lived and what their lives might be like after.

Guard duty sucked. Misquitoes considered the bunkers an R&R center.
