In 67 they never took our ID's but things did change over time. The missions they were on were scheduled for 5 days and if memory serves me correct not one lasted that long.

As for knowing we were comming, we were hard to miss even at low level. On pickups the SF guys were usually on the run and on insertions there were so few LZ's that the NVA had most of them being watched.
