19 June '69 a man that was on perimeter guard (A 1/35) in the bush left the perimeter to relive himself and he didn't tell anyone. On the way back to the perimeter someone heard him but couldn't see him because of the dark conditions and opened up with his M-16 killing him. I'm sure this type of incident happened in all the battalions. At night in the jungle pulling guard was always tough. Your eyes would be playing tricks on you staring into the darkness. We had guard duty every night.
