It was Sempek. He was the only one in the platoon with an air mattress. Of course being the nice guys we were we let him float right now to the second flight platoon's bunker without waking him up. The Air Force's survial vest had a radio and all the little goodies you see a downed pilot has in the movies. I got one for an SP pack and an Bottle of Jack. When I left Nam I gave it to my gunner Mike Rowan along with some other stuff. I had all my stuff packed in a ruck sack and kept it in the bottom compartment just behind my door. Never had to walk out of where I went down. We managed to get away to a better place to crash then the jungle. Twice I ended up near the road that runs between Dak To and Ben Het.
